Right, here's my idea for a game (PC or Console - doesn't matter too much)

The basic game is a racing game with an RPG element.

Here's the set up. Your avatar is a Time Racer, who is someone who can jump through time through a series of ongoing Races. When you meet up first your TR (TimeRacer) is in a jurassic type period where the aim is to race dinosaurs against other TR's. You can't start with the big beast though. You need to get yourself a smaller Raptor of some sort, train that up, maybe buy some bits of riding kit, special foods that kind of thing. This is done in a Gran Turismo style from Trainer Screens, Food Suppliers, Equipment Tents; that kind of thing. There is a whole TR Circus that travels from event to event, a bit like the modern day Grand Prix circuit.

So you've got your raptor, you earn some prizes, keep improving, then move up the next level and the next (bigger and harder to control, faster beasts that can attack each other (and you) in races). Finally you're on the back of a T-Rex and you're in the big league. It's at this point that the TimeRacing comes into play. Providing you've met the criteria - a certain lap course record for example and providing you've got everything with you that you should have then you can make The Jump where at the end of the race you jump forward to another era in time. At that point the process kicks in again but at a higher level.

I'm thinking along the lines of lion and tiger racing in Roman times, the mythical beasts of Ancient Greece, shark racing through Atlantis, you get the idea.

There's a lot of flexibility in the game - those that need to build up a lot of add-ons to get up to speed can do that wheras those who are better natural racers might be able to move forward with less gear. It would also be possible to expand the training and breeding side of things completely so that they become games in themselves - going through generation of a particular animal - (like chocobo breeding in FF) or buying cheats/magic from unscrupulous type and so on. The basic shape is there.

There you go. Another game idea for you to chew on. Any thoughts?
