Looking for some of your beardy knowledge. Read in a topic that you had read the Bourne trilogy of books.

Have seen the films and was thinking of buying the last book for reading on holiday.

Anything major missed in the films that would be needed to read the book or would it be worth getting all 3 books and reading them all?

Any other books by the same dude worth reading if you have read any?

And Finally any other good books you recommend reading?

Cheers

Ludlum stinks because he fancies Matt's Damon.

(I don't get it either)

The Protocol and Deception don't approach Supremancy or Ultimatum, and Identity is better than both of those. So they're not superior. Shush.

Actually, The Sigma Protocol and The Prometheus Deception are both superior Robert Ludlum Books. His only poor book was The Road To Gandolfino. The Bourne ones are amongst his best though.

The Bourne Legacy is now out in the States, although written by someone else as Ludlum is dead. I haven't read it yet.

Definitely worth reading the trilogy. This isn't a loyal LotR-style film series. It's an I,Robot effort. In the first book, for example:

Bourne engages in a cat and mouse game with a master assassin called Carlos, who he might or might not have fought with in Nam as a covert op called Medusa. He finds riddles as to his past everywhere, "Cain is for Carlos", and Touchstone (the U.S organisation that started it all) are trying to catch Carlos and Bourne, and they're both gunning for Touchstone and each other. There's several twist endings that even M Night couldn't think of. The Bourne Identity is a classic.

At no point does he fight a bunch of comedy assassins lead by BMW Clive Owen with glasses. At no point does he hook up with a gypsy-lady and drive her Mini around in a Ronin-style effort. And he most definitely does not have a happy surf-shop ending. The movie is not The Bourne Identity. It just happens to share the same name.

I'm seeing the Bourne Supremacy tonight, but from the trailers it seems like more 'intrigue' nonsense with Matt Damon looking smug because his career is going better than Ben Afflecks. The book is great, and so is the third 'The Bourne Ultimatum'. In honesty, the Identity is the best of the three, but they're all legendary. The author is Robert Ludlum, and he's done some other, inferior stuff in the same vein. It's the Bourne series that should earn your measly pound.

So go buy them, Scottish man. Now.

P.S Your mum.
