I'm also pretty sure that 'Planet X' ([URL]http://xfacts.com/[/URL]) should have hit us by now, there were loads of people ranting on about that a couple of years back.
Oooh, all these Armageddon style scares, they're getting quite boring now...

Sounds scary ... but surely a volcano isn't really that big - not big enough to wipe out the entire eastern seaboard.
On the subject of waves: I saw in the paper that some monitoring satellite has discovered that those massive freak-waves that are dismissed as impossible or extremely rare occur a lot more frequently that anyone had realised.
So there's another possible diaster for you.
Planet X nonsense, pffft.
Should be monitored though, seems silly not to.
