My daughter has recently moved to Japan to work for a year. She is based on one of the southern island where technology and English speakers appear to be scarce. She has a Sony laptop and wants to connect it to the internet. The place she is staying has a "NTT V30 ISDN Tower" (??). Her laptop has no network connector or modem etc. What does she need (hardware AND software ??)

Yes, I've been googling all evening. Snippets here and there but nothing specific.

Have you tried googling for an in-depth ISDN explanation? I'm sure one exists...

Thanks Bullet. Unfortunately the call charges to Japan are expensive and that's the only way of relaying the information, so it needs to be precise.

I'm not entirely experienced with ISDN, but I think you need a special ISDN modem that would plug into the ISDN terminal that should be located in the room, by the phone socket.

EDIT - all required software should come with the modem and settings etc. would most probably come from the ISP - or the building's landlord/owner
