"Can the UK Playstation 2 play DVD's from any region?"

I've been told that the Playstion 2 can play DVD's from any region and to alter region setting is a simple operation. Is this true? Has anybody ACTUALLY PLAYED DVD's from multiple regions on there PSX2?

Their is NO way to change the region. I have tried to play a US disc and it says "wrong region" and doesnt play. Their is an option which say region but, I have no idea what that is as I have tried to change it to US, which you can do but nothing happens.

Modchips DO NOT allow you to play any disc as there is no region hack for the PS2 at this stage. It looks like Sony may have a pretty good hack proof machine so far. As the mod chips dont really do much as even a chipped PS2 wont play import games, it only plays copies that are the same region as the machine and its a complecated method of disc swapping or something like that. Buy PSW magazine has that has a section of what the mod chip does, it recomends that you DO NOT get your PS2 chipped.

Be careful if you decide to get it chipped. If something goes wrong, Sony won`t want anything to do with it.

if it were true we would all be at it and everyone would know about it. but alas im afraid you cant . the only models capable of doing this were the release jap machines , but they stopped that one a bit quick.

i dont know if a reliable mod chip is available , but i would not like to take a screwdriver and soldering iron to my PS2
