Dave watched the monitor as the screen gave off its usual green hue. He had tried to down as much stimulant as possible to keep himself awake, but he still felt groggy after being up for 16 hours.

The monitor gave a faint buzz and the screen flickered breifly as Dave swore under his breath.

"Not again, bloody terminal!" he said under his breath as he hit the machine.

It may have just been co-incidence but at that very moment a small blip appeared before his eyes and he scrabbled around for his communicator.

"Sir, we have one." was the simple but clear message to his superior.

A tall figure entered Dave's vision and barked for more details.

"We've spotted them, sir." Dave explained, while pointing at the screen, "They're heading this way, fast too, by the looks of it."

"Damn! We just weren't ready for them." roared the figure as he strode across the room and checked another monitor.

The control room shook suddenly. The problem was that when 'they' got too close it always affected the surroundings and it seems as if they were just outside by the strength of the last tremour. Dave could do nothing but wait and watch the usual plan being set up by the others.

"Well men, this is what you've been waiting for, I just hope you're all ready."

3 other operators stood by the door, poised for the attack as Dave sucked his breath in anticipation. It was him or them, they'd all get their chance, but the first one to make a kill always got the best rewards.

As if on demand, the doors burst open and their prey entered at an incredible rate.

In one swift move, Dave shot passed the other techys and grabbed the tea and a biscuit. He congratulated himself on a job well done as he sat back down on his comfy chair and waited until the next technical call came in from the office. Those CCTV cameras really came in handy at tea time.

Yeah, thanks for the proof read! :-)

I've edited the story slightly now, should be a lot clearer.

It's er... a little unclear? :-)

Did Dave get the others in his office doing something while he grabbed the tea and biscuits or was it a team thing, bracing everyone ready for their snack? :-D
