Great great great game, even though the script is a little cliché im at South Ocean the only bit of the game in despising due to the long stretch and frequent random battles. Im running crippled with no health items after literally a flock of electric birds things absolutely destroyed me. Im just looking for a place the funking land now but so far the game is better than I expected it to be. Huzzah

Jungle beat reminded me off Cosmo Canyon heavily.

Ahh yes :) Point taken.

I have the Skies soundtrack though so I listen to that every so often and the game does probably have *the* best ending credits music ever. Full orchestral DC version rather than the skanky music quality on Legends. If you've played it you'll know the music gets all sad when it reveals a certain character passes on after the game ends :(

The random battles on the DC killed it for me. I was only playing the demo, but part of it was just a long outdoor walkway, and every 3 steps there was another random battle. I just can't take that much punishment.

The random battles on the Cube were actually quite infrequent compared to most random-battling RPGs.

I read some cheat somewhere about there being a monster in the jungle that gives you special powers or something. Obviously fake, but I still tried to find it - and there's actually some kind of crocodile that swims around the bottom of the place, although you can't do anything to it.

The amount of random battles was decreased for the Cube version and the experience awarded was adjusted appropriately. :P Legends rules all.

I'm playing it through on-and-off on the Dreamcast at the moment, and I can't say it's worthy of the mountains of praise it gets. The battles are very intrusive and really drag on. Even if they've solved those problems for the GC version, I can't see it being a world-beater.

Aye, but when you get to the jungle place ... what utter relief.

If you're refering to some of the dialogue, then yeh ok some of it smells a little of fromage. But the overall story is great.

I hated the Southern Ocean the first time. The only time in the game I lost the will to play. You go extra slow and the random battles are put way up. Irritating.

Whatever, the game is absolutely sublime. Skies > All.
