Take the PSX. Last Christmas what was the top selling game? It wasn't the graphically amazing Soul Calibur, or the speedy Sonic Adventure. No. It was Tomorrow Never Dies- one of the most over-rated games ever! Even the magazines thought so, saying things like "Please don't buy this game... it's not Goldeneye!"
So what prompts gamers to buy such poor games? Simply put, it's the brand name. If you don't believe me, just look at the name of Sony's new console, "Playsation 2". No doubt they will use the success of the Playstation to get in peoples' homes, despite the poor reviews that the machine is getting. Looking at recent sales figures in Japan, gamers are finally understanding this- the PS2's market share dropped to only 7.8%!!!
Finally, I just want to say:
I'M PROUD THAT I DON'T FOLLOW ALL THE HYPE SURROUNDING GAMES. I HOPE YOU CAN FEEL THE SAME?
