Its my bands first gig on Saturday and im really excited. We've been practicing for about 2 weeks now. It's not much but I'm still fairly confident. We've sold loads of tickets.

We never found a replacement singer after our initial singer left (she only ever came to one practice and didnt really fit our style) so I am sharing the vocal duties with our guitarist.

Have any of you got any good tips for a good performance?

How have any of your gigs gone in the past?

Done loads of gigs, the worst one was when our drummer just didnt turn up! We nearly had to pull out, but this guy (who at the time was our band's roadie, and therefore knew all our songs due to being at our rehearsals) played for us instead. Hea ctually turned out to be a better drummer than our offical drummer (the one who didnt turn up) so we ditched the original drummer and recruited the ex-roadie! :D Twas madness i tell thee.

Other than that most other problem's ive had have been with equipment. Batteries in pedals going flat, leads not working, amps playing silly-buggers etc. Never dropped a plectrum though which for some reason im rather proud of! :)

My band played our second gig on Friday. Went pretty well. We were sposed to be supporting this other band that then pulled out, so we had to find another band to play, and it was supposed to be a co-headline thing, but we ended up playing last, and then we actually got paid, which unexpected but a nice suprice nonetheless.

We only played covers, but I think we're gonna try and recruit a second guitarist in the near future and then look to start writing some original material before the Summer is out.

Given that it's Sunday, and you've already done the gig advice seems pointless, but meh.

Turn your phone off. I didn't and it rang inbetween our songs. Heh...
When it's your last song offer up 5 pence to whomever dances the best to it. Worked for me. Kind of.

Anyway, hopefully it went well.

I remember our first gig... It was in April.

Seems all the nerves dissapear when you get onstage and play the first chord if you're confident about it. So you should be fine.

But then i am a drummer and i get to hide behind cymbals. Hurrah :P
