Rare have done similar things for the Nintendo machines. I think that Goldeneye is a great game because that too was so much more than people were used to. Likewise, by the time other people are catching up with the quality of Goldeneye Rare are going to be releasing Perfect Dark and once again moving the goalposts. They have also done similar things for games like Donkey Kong on the snes although I am not such a big platformer fan.
My favourite games are:
Final Fantasy7 and FF8,
Metal Gear Solid (too short though)
Goldeneye
Broken Sword 2 (an excellent game!)
Zelda 64 and Zelda 3 (snes)
and Gran Turismo
I am definately looking forward to the next generation consoles because there is so much potential for making both good sequels and new, innovative games. After all, just look at the Playstation's launch line-up compared to todays games - it was absolute rubbish.
The N64 is similar (except Mario 64)as there are lots of good games starting to come out now like Perfect Dark. If this also applies to the Dreamcast then just imagine what games there are set to come in its future generations of games, especially after games such as Shenmue and Crazy Taxi. I can't wait to get a new console. I'm just not sure which one to get, there are so many promising ones to choose from!
1 Wu-Tang, teste the pain,(ps)
2 Goldeneye, soon to be Perfect Dark,(Both N64)
3 Super bash Brothers,(N64)
4 Zelda, Ocarina of Time, Definately!(N64)
5 1080* SnowBoarding, my top score is, 4400+ on the half pipe!(N64)
6 Resident Evil 1! the sequels are good, but it just has different scenery,(ps)
7 Broken Sword 1,(ps)
anyway a RPG(role play game) correct me if I am wrong but you do control mario and you do wonder around mushroom kingdom, therefore making it a RPG???? it's the same as ZELDA and I don't think this is a platformer, infact Zelda is more of a platformer than Mario,
I might have a couple of screws up in my head loose, but it's not as bad as what happens in your mum and dads bedroom! slim shady, don't ask me why I came out with that, I just like it.
:)
2. First person shooters- Doom (ancient but a classic)

7. Point and click- Broken Sword 2
1. Street Fighter or Super Smash Bros.

what's point and click?
> sorry to pick holes, but Mario64 is NOT a platformer, it is an RPG,
No it's not?
5 1080* SnowBoarding, my top score is, 4400+ on the half
