how do you get to the statue of liberty on spiderman 2. I know its on that island but its so far away

You can fall in the lake in Central Park. So yes, kinda, on a more bigger scale.

Yes, I think I did. I jumped off the second one and fell into the water, re-appearing on the island rather than back at the City...

You need to use three heli's in the end, there is one that comes to the first island you get to, and you need to get to the top of that long poley thing on the mini island.
Although you need to change helicopters in the middle of the water.
