Its the best banner on the site by far!

Thanks to all of you that have expressed they like the MIST banner - I designed it! Nice to have positive praise.

As I sit here at the start of a new day after reading plenty of MIST posts I get the feeling that you all want MIST to work.

There seems to be a chicken and egg situation.

In order for my boss to promote this forum it needs to be popular (as far as I can tell), but in order for this to be popular the site needs more promotion! Hence our dilemma (excuse spelling - it is late!).

So what do we do?

1) Repost the banner (at the mo it is off the site) as it seems to be liked

2) Try and place it on other popular sites

3) Use the same design to advertise it in the club mag to generate a strong and recognisable image for the forum.

4) Design follow up banners and ads in the same style to generate a strong and recognisable image for the forum.

5) Design a banner for FOG forum (not one at the mo as far as I know)AND MIST on the same banner as to increase peoples awareness of FOG and then also MIST (get more awareness to people using FOG to know about MIST - they will recognise the FOG wording then think but what is MIST)

6) Seriously consider a slight name change from Morbid Insomniacs Short Topics' to 'Midnight Insomniacs Short Topics' as suggested by Dr. Duck. I did not use the first name on the banner for fear of putting people off. Midnight is friendly and is more of a signal when to start posting on MIST or switching from FOG.

7) Organise online gaming competitions once a month (for example) that start at midnight and are only open to recognised regular MIST members (and have a prize attatched like gameaday).

8) Organise a real world (as opposed to web) gaming competition (Saturday night!) that starts at midnight with a couple of hours of build up (possibly - have to think that one through a bit more)

9) Design a trading card game based on the images (send in photos) and personalities of the regualr people who use the site to be sold through our site and club shops (this could be reissued every half a year or year to generate people becoming regular users in order to see themselves incorporated into a professionally desiged and printed card game! - think of the fame and showing your mates!)

10) Go to bed as I've got magazine typesetting to do (oh - that one a note myself!)

Anyway, as you can tell I was inspired by the chance to design the MIST banner. I hope MIST will stay alive. So I hope these suggestions will help. Basically tell all your mates to get chatting at mightnight!

I was just about to ask if it was all a big joke, and there wasn't really a banner (after A LOT of refreshing), and on what I'd decided to be one of the last refreshes, and there is is, in beutiful brownish yellow. Wow. It was all worth... well... yeah, I saw it.

Where is everybody anyway? I think we've been hurt by that chatroom link someone (I forget who) posted a day or two ago. No Chatrooms, no sleep. No chatrooms, no sleep. Join me in protest brothers!

Everyone - Midnight v Morbid ? (see a couple of posts down)
What do you think?

Midnight vs Morbid...
The latter is a good description of me at the moment, but yes, it probably does scare people away..but then we seem to be able to do that anyway.

DVD's, rubix cubes, win a car, dangermouse, ebay, suspicious-looking animals in drag, train simulator, cheap games, expensive games, free games, pc's that are bigger than the pyramids, I may have seem every other banner ad sr have got. My refresh button is crying and begging for mercy, but I have yet to see the MIST banner ad.

You should try to be really cheeky and get onto that 4-later webcam thing and mention it, and advertise on busses.

Also, I suggest officially re-naming MIST as (in it's full form) 'Midnight Insomniacs Short Topics' (so it's still MIST, and sounds a little more user friendly.) Any comments?

I'm here still.
Well, was.
I'm searching around for a cross platform embedded video conferencing open source distribution which doesn't require too much code hacking. Not the best thing to do at 1:45am..
