Why can't we all just get along?
First, this rift between console owners is nuts. For one thing, however insistantly anyone protests that their plastic box of chips and wires is better than the next persons, it's purely a matter of opinion, and a 'best' console will never emerge from the group.
And while Nintendo are being taken to the European courts for basically fleecing customers for every penny they can, (and if Nintendo are guilty, maybe Sony and Sega are too, retailing at similar prices with CD's considerably cheaper to produce than cartridges) the loyalty so many show to their favourite companies seems not to be earned, and quite possibley not even deserved.
So how can we justify such loyalties? Especially when the loyalties come at the cost of tearing this little gaming community apart, blinding us from the simple fact that we all have this one big thing in common, a passion for computer games.

But our inability to get along togetherseems to run deeper than this. I've seen the same pattern time and time again; one individual holds an opinion different to everyone else, and there's always someone who disrespects said persons right to their individual view, and the situation rapidly degenerates into open abuse. Check out the 'disagreement' between Dave and Fogmaster in the Perfect Dark forum if you need proof.
Guys, and in fact everyone, it's alright to hold a different opinion to everyone else, and it's fine for people to disagree with you. Talking over different views and opinions is a part of what these forums are about. That and helping fellow gamers with cheats and reviews, and meeting people with similar interests.
So come on everyone, make friends, not enemies. Accept our differences, theres nothing wrong with having them. We all have more things in common than we have to seperate us. And we're all here for the same reason.

I walk into my branch of Game back home. I look on the shelves of the PSX/PS2 games. The latest PS2 are about 37, the latest PSone are about 25/30. I then get as far as the N64 area, and see games at 50/60. That is more than a small difference.
