"Face Off" (Nik Cage, Travolta)
"After killing "Travolter's" son Travolta is after Castor Troy for revenge and he finally catches him. He is then offered a mission to find where he has placed a bomb in the city, in order to go he must switch faces with Troy. After the switch Troy wakes up and gets the surgery done on him, he then burns the connections and Travolta is stuck in prison"
"The best action scene would have to be in the house of Troys friends when the police raid and then a giant gun battle begins"
"Gladiator" (Russel Crowe)
"Russel crowe plays the part as Maximus who is forced into becoming a slave after Ceaser dies and he leaves the Legion. Known as the Spaniard by his fans he is forced to become a gladiaor and win the crowd so he can get his freedom. After his wife and son are killed Maximus vows to kill the emoror as revenge"
"The fight in the colosium for the second to final time when they as a team take down a massive army"
In my opinion these two are the greatest action scenes to date and i am sure there are many others.
What are yours?

The sheer size of the space ships were amazing to look at, especially over some of the most dramatic sky line the world has to offer - America's east coast. And the fire power, that was something else! How buildings like the White House and the Crysler Building appeared to just spontaniusly combust under the 'beautful light'. This was shown (i thought) spectacularly - exploading from the top downwards.
So, get ready to imagine what i think the best action scene ever made is. The space ship firing on the White House, by night, shining a sky blue/dark blue beam of 'light'. With the top of the White House Just begining to explode. Ie the DVD and video cover, then allow that to run for a split second (pausing your screen) What you will see is the White House exploding in the background with that helicopter being smashed out of the ski in the forground.
And i put this to you, if any of you manage to see the scene i am talking about. You will, like me think it is the best action scene ever made!

I thought The Rok was cool, that had some decent action scences. Maybe when all of those Navy Seals got it. Damn that part was funny. I hate the "Hey we're Army guys, and we're in control here" type of crap that happens in some movies, and to see all of these guys get shot was great!
How about the assault on the original Death Star in A New Hope? That was fantastic!
Mind you, that's not an 'Action' movie, is it?
Oh, I know, that bit in that film with Morgan Freeman.
He's driving around, chatting to this old dear.
Driving Miss Daisy, that's the one! Non stop action!!!
> How can the best film ever not be the Matrix. It is has everything.
> A terribly original storyline,
What? Personally I thought the whole robots get clever and take over the world thing had been done as the plot outline for Terminator.
> the twist in
> the story where Syther betrays them brings suspense.
No way. The characters that he managed to kill off had no real influence on the film, they where obviously only in the film to be killed off. It would have been much more effective if it had lead to the death of Morpheus or something. Loosing the guy that used to play 'Damo' in Home And Away just doesn't cut it, it's hardly Darth Vader striking down Obi-Wan, is it? "Strike me down and I shall become more powerfull than you ever could imagine"

Actually that's what annoyed me most about the Matrix, I thought that the Agents were pathetic. They didn't look bad, and no one ever taught them that you don't wear sunglasses indoors.
And the fact that there's three of them? Wholly original concept there then hey, 3! No, hang on Superman 2 had 3 enemies, and they were much better than those poxy Agents.
So yeah, the Matrix was fun, but it was the effects that made it amazing, not it's plot.
I presume your talking about the fact that some films take ideas from other films... well obviously. there have got to be hundreds of imitators, out there, in the 'industry' just for the money. But the important films which have had a real impact on society are the only ones which will stand the test of time.
In 500 years, if there has yet to be any revolution be it physical or elemental, then what film will people be looking back on;
'Clockwork Orange' or 'What Women Want'? 'Taxi Driver' or 'Miss Con*******y'? These are the innovative films and these are what im talking about.
Action films are meerly technological advancements. and once 'The Matrix 2' comes out then Number 1 will be shoved aside and 2 Will be heralded as the best action film ever, due just to the Special Effects. Where as such films as I have numerously mentioned in previous posts in this forum WILL stand the test of time, becuase they give a representation of society, be it accurate or not, which can provoke true emotions, rather then just the adrenal gland.
But do the Wachowski Brothers really care if their 'movie' will stand the test of time? i dont think so, which is why films like this are mass produced, because 90% of them are seenas business investments, and if, after the cinema release they have reeped a profit then they are considered a success; BOOM, the print is then shoved into the bin like a discarded oily fish, the cheque is cashed into an L.A bank, and another Hollywood millionaire is born.

Prime example:
Girlfight this must have been inspired by Billy Elliot as its the same sort of film.
You CANT DENY THIS!
