Some of you may know that for some time I've been working with Kikass on various projects like their Worlds AIDS Day stunt, trips to Downing Street, and taken part in two of the PR-fests the 'Big Conversation'.. This has nothing to do with any of those I listed above, except Kikass who got me into this.
It's the Russell Commission.
The Russell Commission's a Commission that was set up by Gordon Brown and headed the the CEO of Scottish Power, Ian Russell. It's aim is to submit a report by March 2005 on the current state of Youth Volunteering in the UK. It will also be aiming to give a set of points as a consultation that will go to Gordon Brown and may be implmented to change government policy on Youth Volunteering.
I got an information pack following the second meeting of the 'Young People's Advisory Group' (which I am part of) and the pack has in it a questionnaire that Mr Russell's keen to get the most amount of answer and ideas for from all people.
This'll be interesting for those of you who want to go into volunteering, or are already volunteers of some sort.
And if you are part of a volunteering organisation, I'd reall appreciate it if you were to drop me an email at nidal.al-juzi @westminster.org.uk (no space) (or if you use Outlook.. mailto:) with some contact information and what you do within the organsation.
The Russell Commission Website is at www.russellcommission.org http://www.russellcommission.org
Thanks a lot,
Nidal
