Sony have announced a linux development program for budding programmers for the Ps2. The kit (which will only be available in Japan) comes with a 40Gb hard drive, keyboard, mouse, VGA cable and Linux DVD.
However, for me the most interesting things are the keyboard, mouse and VGA calbe allowing you to hook your PS2 to a monitor!

Sorry to hear the datel keyboard never worked out WM.
Yeah, I want a nice black keyboard. One that works would be nice - as I've posted previously, I bought one of the Datel keyboards and it doesn't work with YABASIC (that's official word from Datel) - and that's a bit of a con, since the box claims "100% PS2 compatible".
I think we're in a catch-22 situation - a 'reverse' chicken-and-egg, if you like: neither is coming first! There's not an official mouse or keyboard because not many titles use them, and not many titles use them because not many people have them.
If all else fails, I'll try to get a black PC USB keyboard from somewhere.

A black keyboard would certainly look better in front of your PS2 than an off-white PC one!!
By the way... I meant to say that the kit isn't compatable with UK or US PS2's because it uses the external HDD. Whether Sony will release a US/UK version remains to be seen. Another interesting fact is the price - the equivilent of $200 for all that stuff. If you take away the keyboard, mouse, cable and DVD, the the HDD should be about $100 - $150.
Which as we've estimated that the UK Hdd will be about £100, it appears that we aren't too far off the mark!
