Jealousy?
Because other people are listening to a song you like?
Loss of smugness?
Because you can no longer go "oooh! I like blab-blab" to a wonderful chorus of "never heard of it"?

Makes no sense.
Same when a band you like suddenly gets popular.
It's quite annoying, but gladly doesn't happen all too often.

It is weird. It's annoying when that happens, but it's also good because people are listening to *your* music. If they like, they have taste ;)

It's happened to me a couple of times - it'll no doubt happen when everyone wants the new Libertines album and stuff.

I kinda know what you mean, happened when Idlewild released Live In A Hiding Place and my friends all suddenly wanted to borrow the album.
It'll probably happen when/if Snow Patrol release How To Be Dead. In fact, I was annoyed when Snow Patrol got famous with Run, when I'd been a fan for a while beforehand.
