I know this girl from America who I chat to on msn from time to time and I happened to mention I went to a uni open day at Sheffield and asked if she knew where it was. I asked how come most American's knew very little about England and her response was that America was just better, thus pushing me onto an Anti-American rant.

She beleive's Bush, an illiterate man with the diplomacy of a toothbrush, is the greatest president they've ever had. That he won the election fair and square and will stay in power for many years to come, and much more indoctrinated filth such as the whole of Iraq being terrorists and America having the right to police the globe.

I smiled and mentioned Michael Moore.

She blocked me.

Going to Florida this October. Can't wait, once again.

When I was in America I had no trouble at all, in fact I'm looking forward to going back some day. But the fact is, the Americans we see every day are either on the internet, aged about 13, love "warez" and can't spell to save their lives, or the ones we see on shows like Jerry Springer, rednecks who love sleeping with their sisters and can't spell to save their lives.

The only Yanks that I've spoken to who turn out to be complete wanktards, are the ones on Xbox Live/PS2/other indirect method of communication.

When over there, in Florida, never in the 9 times I've been there have I had a problem with any of them. 90% ar very polite and friendly, the other 10% are Spanish/Latina/Mexican/Illegal Immigrants who can't speak English, or speak very little of it.

I generally don't have a problem with Americans, but like PB said, it's the 'frontline' that create the bad image.

Hell, I'm even planning on moving over there in the future!

Sorry, but I do know some Americans who don't take other countries for granted and also have at least some general knowledge of global events outside of their own US-centric world.

It's the dumb-áss frontline of American stupidity which gives the country its bad name, not helped by the fact that the leader of that frontline is also the leader of the country...

You get people like that, except in Florida. When I was 11 or 12, Americans came over to me and spoke politely as they, for some reason, realised that I was Scottish. A few moments later, some FAT B came and asked "Where's your whiskey?" I ignored him and ran onto the 'Single Passenger' lane on the 'Incredible Hulk' rollercoaster. I ran and he laughed. I don't why, but it was stupid. The people that was around me shut-up.

Seriously though, people that play Xbox Live will tell you stories of some certain American stupidity. As a quick example:

Me: Hey.
gnarlee_182: Dude, whats up with your accent?
Me: I'm British.

Me: I'm. From. The. UK.
gnarlee_182: Wow, dude, isn't that like in England or something?
Me: *sigh*

I'm not saying all yanks like gnarlee_182 *sigh* are this idiotic, but still.

My vast generalisations will get me into trouble one day, heh.

Im sure everyone knew I didnt mean all Americans are stupid, just a portion of them.
