Amelie was directed by the Alien: Resurrection director. And it really shows!
Just kidding. It's very worth a watch, French or not.
> Anyone care for a bit of French pop music, with accordion as lead instrument???
It's all about MC Solaar, and Tryo.
Il Postino was great though - not French, but similar to that style of cinema.
which isn't a bad thing.. :-)
I've just got back from two weeks of Francesville. They're stranger than I could have ever imagined. Anyone care for a bit of French pop music, with accordion as lead instrument???
Meka, Amelie is French but not Alan Partridge French. I mean, they talk French and it's set in Paris, but there are no onions in it, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any people going o-hi-ho-hi-ho.
It's great, a real *gulp* feel-good movie.
> Tell me you didn't love this film. Superbly French.
A excellent reason then not to watch it. :-) (curse you Meka, beat me to it)
> Superbly French.
That is the reason I cannot bring myself to watch it.
What is it about, a bunch of blokes with thin moustaches and berets riding around Paris on a bicycle with onions around their necks, wearing blue and white stripey t-shirts, going ho-hi-ho-hi-ho-hi-ho?
Actually, I'm not sure where that image of France comes from.
Back to the film. I might watch it one day if it's on at a convenienvt time, but I shalln't go out of my way to watch it.
