The publishers who published a poem of mine are doing a new anthology of love poems, the guidelines are below:

Love - the most poignant and soul-stirring emotion known to mankind. We have all experienced it at one time or another, felt the all consuming passions and tempestuous fervour that love evokes within us. Grappled with the despondent despair that envelopes us when it all goes horribly wrong, and relished the sublime exhilaration of love at its most glorious.

We are compiling an anthology of love poetry, but this will be an anthology with a difference. All correspondence up to and including the acceptance procedure will be done online. The finished anthology will be produced in a softback format.

So whether you’re a hopeless romantic, or completely disillusioned with the whole concept of love. Benefiting from a fulfilling and secure relationship, or just dipping your toe in the water for the first time. Whatever your feelings, email and share your views on this emotive subject with us now.

Submission Guidelines: One love poem and of no more than 30 lines in length will be considered. Please remember to write your name and address on your love poem.

Email us your love poem for consideration in this anthology to: [email protected]

Blossoming from sorrow,
a root, a shoot a flower
thriving in my delicate heart
in seconds tangling hours
Flourishing, feeding, nourishing,
my aching contorted mind
A path, a light, a stairwell
For which I’ve longed to find.
Eyes sparkling in darkness
Lipstick rubbed and smeared
A tightly held jealous embrace
followed by bittersweet tears
A hive, a nest of tragedy
alone now, cloaked in fear
Though ‘tis better to have loved and lost
according to Shakespeare.
My effigy and discontent
fade and blacken still
negativity brushed away, aside
replaced with smiles and good will.
They say love will change a boy
and decide what a man he’ll be
One day I’ll find love myself
and then I’m sure I’ll see.

What does anyone think of that?

I love chips,
but I don't love peas,
I love my dog,
but I don't love his fleas.

I love pets,
but I don't love Vets,
the Vietnam war was wrong,

Napalm hurts like hell.

**************

Don't bother sending in your poems, I think we have a winner.
