I don’t know if it was genuinely funny, or I was just knackered.
Right, most of the day was filled with false alarms and transporting to and from mental hospitals. This one fella we were asked to pick up we were told about all the warning signals he had, (violence, unprovoked violence against police, things like that) and so we made our way quite quickly.
When we arrived he was brought out and I had the back door of the van open and ready…

He was about 85, hunched over and needed us to lift him into the back because he couldn’t bend his legs! I think some weedy officer may have been hit by one of his shaking arms and thought he was assaulting him.
Apart from that we had a burglary, where two people were spotted making off from the scene. The involved the helicopter got involved and spotted someone diving into a hedge. We sealed of the area and started searching. My Inspector found the guy, (who decided to crouch in a bramble bush, the genius) and he was nicked.
The other person was spotted several times, which then involved lots of chasing and running.
