When I have spent along time trying to get a game, e.g. Goldeneye took me a couple of months to get, everywhere was sold out, so I had to swop it for Lylat wars and Blast Corps, (I wanted it that badly), anyway I havn't stopped playing this game for three whole years, whereas Extreme G was given to me, I mean you can't really compare the games, but I really like this game, but as it didn't take half as long to get, infact I didn't really want it, I find that I only ever play it when my mates come around and they don't know what it is, so I then play it for a couple of days, but get bored.
This is only my opinion, not everyone will be the same, but I find most games that keep you waiting, not too long, but long enough are the best, e.g. Perfect Dark, (but I don't know about this anymore, because I know everything about it and will not really find it a challenge because I have owned Goldeneye so long).
Whereas the games that don't keep you waiting, and just come out with no interviews or anything, just flop and don't get much attention .
woah that would be cool.
and last of all, I never heard of a humble chicken, but why are you into this whole chicken and egg thing?
My mate liked the game, sort of, but I didn't say that I swopped it for FIFA 98, so my letter wasn't really complete, I like Extreme G, I don't know if you have played it, but it's a good laugh.
PD has only been delayed since November because of the Americans, RARE had to get rid of the face changer option, otherwise we would have had the same release date as the Americans, I don't know why we did'nt get first choice, it would have been great to shoot my mates, especially on multiplayer, but it would have been slower, and thats the other reason why it's better to wait for our version, because it's faster.
And I think it was the egg that came first, the egg must have been laid by some other bird which eventually evolved into a chicken.
the evolution story, absolutly no relevance to games or consoles, but what the heck!
I'm afraid I am a chicken, you egg...
Maybe it'd be clearer like this:
Goldeneye was hard to get hold of because it was so good, Perfect Dark's release was pushed back to allow the programmers to make it better. Hence the games quality causes the wait.
On the other hand, didn't you say before that Extreme G was given to you because it was pants (well, the original owner thought it was pants), even if not, the other side of the argument remains as follows, because there is no problem with the game selling out and developers don't put in the effort to require a delayed release, the game is of a lower overall quality.
Hence, the chicken of quality preceeds the egg of the anticipatory wait. In my mind anyway.
