Do 64bit processors, such as Athlon 64 3400+, need a 64bit OS, such as Windows XP 64bit edition?
Or is 64bit edition OS the colour or something?

Please help me.

If you mean the rough price of the motherboard then i would say about £60 delivered.

What would be a rough price?

If i can make the sum of everything for the 64, the same as for the XP, i can get the 64.

Cool, I really want one, but money is a very big issue. When is it not..?

Anyway, i might have to go with an athlon XP 3200+, which isnt so bad, because its still super fast. And supports 400mhz ram. Which is nice.

I have my athlon 64 running in my shuttle machine now and it is by far the best performing cpu i have had even though i am not able to use the 64bit processing due to only having a 32bit OS, also it runs a lot cooler that the latest p4 which is handy for my shuttle, Before you go buying a brand new ahlon 64 motherboard i actually have an Abit KV8-MAX3 64bit motherboard for sale which i am not using anymore, it's only been used for about 3 months as well, if you are interested just post here and i will give you my MSN and\or E-mail address.

Ok the best board at the moment is: ALBATRON K8X800 Pro II
£99.58 unc vat

With the RAM it doesnt matter much, the performence difference between the most expensive and the cheapest is only about 2-3%, try and match the FSB of the A64 with the speed of the ram, eg DDR333 etc

Yup! Fantasticly fast for a small price premium - though I still have the Socket 754 board rather than the new 939. :(
