Right, I uninstalled SP2 coz i had something wrong with it and the uninstallation worked fine but when I restarted Windows, it did the loading screen and then it jus rebooted without going into windows and kept on doing this in a loop. Safe mode does the same and so do all the modes so I tried repairing windows with the install disc but it couldn't delete any of the files to replace them. Now i cannot get into my system, can someone tell me a way!! PLEASE!!! I have other machines (obv. this one) so I can shove the hard drive into this computer if I need to...

that wont work, you have to do a format of the partition, try making a new small partition for windows, then when thats installed get all the data of your other partition and wipe the whole thing

You could try doing just that, install Windows over the top without reformatting the drive.

Thank you for those words of wisdom, at least we are on the same page here. OK I have now been able to overwrite those Windows files and it still wont boot but I am now faced with another problem. I can't access the James (my name) folder in Documents and Settings which is where all my stuff is...it says that it is locked. Can you tell me how to get into it?

I have had a think about it, but if you have tried a repair install from the XP disc and you can't overwrite the files then you are pretty much screwed. What about system restore? Tried that?

If all else fails, stick the hard drive in the other computer, save your files then format the disk and start from scratch.
