I must excel at pole-vault.

i think i read 85% of pole voltiests started out in the circus as human cannon balls.

But little poles aren't very bendy.
It's all about being bent, you know.

As with most sports like ski jumps and pole vaults you practice starting on a small scale and work your way up, usually wearing quite a bit of protective gear in the beginning til you've learnt the technique well

I was thinking ski-jump really, how do you throw yourself off a ramp that size for the first time ?
