No seriously, I did. I left the cinema a changed person because of it. I almost didn’t get in, but a last gasp attempt convinced the bloke at the counter I was 15, even though I’m only 14. Ha! Result. So I bought a bucket of sweet popcorn, biggest one there, and a giant diet coke, and we were in.

The film is breath-taking. Right from the beginning the film sucks you into a heart-pounding and thrilling adventure. I don’t usually go to the cinema, highlighting my unsocial able life, but this film I needed to see. I can’t remember the plot fully, but the basic outline is that the Greeks have taken over the whole country, apart from the apparent ‘untouchable’ city of Troy, protected by the God of the Sun. The first scene is superb, as Achilles (Brad Pitt) takes on a giant, Greek warrior and with skill and grace runs at him and stabs his sword into his shoulder. It’s truly breath-taking to watch. From there on, the son (Orlando Bloom), the brother of Hector (The Australian guy, can’t remember his name) falls in love with the daughter of the ruler of Greece, and when Hector leaves Greece, his son smuggles the daughter onto the boat. Once she is discovered, their only choice is to go to Troy before the Greeks declare war on them. The plot is sometimes confusing, but very involving and well thought up.

From here on in, there’s action all the way. The Greek ruler wants his daughter back, and declares war on Troy. His best warrior, Achilles, is also his worst enemy, as Achilles was captured by the Greeks and doesn’t want to fight for them. Now safely in Troy, Hector and his family prepare the city for war. Then the Greeks arrive in their thousands in a memorable and staggering scene where hundreds on warships sail toward the coast of Troy. Achilles then, once ashore, leads his group of renegade warriors against Hectors coastline army. The special effects here are incredible, as the two armies exchange fire, and Achilles brilliance and tactics break through Hectors coastline army even before the Greeks come ashore.

Now the coke straw is bitten, and I’m on the edge of my seat, as the two armies prepare for a full scale battle. Before the battle takes place, the brother of Hector challenges the Greek leader for a battle to win his daughter. He does get his butt kicked badly, but the sword swipes and blade blows are thrilling to watch. The fight is exciting yet tense, as you don’t know who will victorious. Now the Greek leader is furious at his daughter, and orders his troops to attack Troy. Hector lines up his archers on behind the walls, and the army is assembled on the ground. Then battle commences, and I was treated to a good 15 minutes of gruesome yet intriguing battling. Every sword blow, every arrow fired and every warrior’s death are all made superb to view by some incredible special effects.

Then the tension really mounts, when Hector thinks he has killed Achilles, but when he pulls off his helmet he realises it was Hectors loyal cousin. With the Greek army held up and retreating, Achilles is told the news, and in an act of fury, he walks to Troy, and in a scene so emotional screams ‘Hector’ to the city. Hector knows he will need to fight Achilles, and says his goodbyes to his family. The city gates then open, and Hector and Achilles stand face to face. Then, a truly fantastic battle takes place which must have took months to perfect. The tension factor now soars off the meter, and when Hector finally falls to the ground, Achilles plunges his sword deep into Hector. Then, in a moment of sheer disbelief, Achilles rides off back to the coast dragging Hector behind him. It’s incredible to watch.

Now the tides begin to turn, as the Greeks offer Troy a relic of a horse to give to the Gods, and they take it into the city. But little do they know hidden inside the relic are a large number of Achilles’ army, and indeed Achilles himself. At night, the army escape from the relic and then the city of Troy starts to fall, as thousand of civilians are slaughtered and Troy’s army is defeated. But not all hope is lost, as before his death Hector shows his wife a secret passage out of the city, and tells her if Troy ever falls to get as many people as possible and to leave secretly. Then, a brilliant scene takes place where Achilles is shot many times by the arrows of Hectors brother, and after about five arrows in the chest, he falls to his death, and the brother leaves a defeated Troy along with a number of other people.

This film is incredible. I recommend everyone should see it. The action is thrilling, the plot involving and the special effects are fantastic. If you haven’t seen this film, go see it as soon as possible as this is one of the best movies in ages. Incredible stuff.

The film is a poor man's Gladiator, I mean it focuses on Brad Pitt then just suddenly goes way off track, I just felt that the film had no meaning or point. The fight scenes were ok but it's not as good as it was claiming it was going to be.
