The next generation consoles. What do they really have to offer. DVD? Thankyou very much, but everyone writing here obviously has a PC, and so will the majority of people able to shell out £300 for a PS2, and through the PC you can get a much better DVD for a lot cheaper. Graphics then... judging by the early PS2 screen shots, nothing worthwhile there either. I know is early days, but you would expect Sony to try to show off their capabilities, possible even to a level they would'nt match for a while afterwards. I don't think they even bothered.
Net access then. A novelty. With AI in computer controlled multiplayer to play against alone (without the phone bill) and 4 way gaming when your mates are around (much better playing against poeple when you can see their faces as you beat them), the net doesn't have enough to offer to validate it's presence,
What's the point of the new generation then? With no outstanding new features and the 'old' generation a long way from their use by dates, it would appear that the companies are merely getting greedy. They think by releasing a new console with promises of it being 'better', we'll all part with our cash like England with a 2 goal lead.
