And Azul, if you’re reading this, stop now rather then complain later.

Not my favourite day since joining, I must say. In the morning I dealt with my very first dead person and in the afternoon I dealt with my second ever dead person.

The first was “a nice simple one” as was pointed out to me several times by several different people. It was an 80+ gent who had died in the night. He wasn’t a well man, and when I say that I’m not making a joke about the fact that he was dead. I mean that when he was alive he was not a well man. He was around 5’9” tall and weighed around 5 stone. I had to see him naked at the mortuary and it was just like a skeleton with skin over the top.

I really felt for his son and it was very hard not to get emotional about certain things.

His son has lived with and cared for his father for around 10-years and he has no other friends or family. So now he is alone, upset and devoid of any real social skills. I know what you’re thinking; he should become an English football “fan”…sorry. Some of the stuff the mortician was saying just showed me what people have to do to cope with this on a daily basis.

I was then given a tour of the mortuary, (there’s a fun day out, eh?)

It all stuck me as rather surreal.

Some of the things that will stick in my mind were the cribs and baby holders. I hope that is one thing I never have to deal with in my career.

The second dead person was “suspicious” and therefore I can’t go in to anything about it.

Next week I may be going to a post-mortem, so that may raise my spirits.

Ho ho, i hope you never have to attend a suicide where they've blown their head off with a shotgun in the kitchen then.

It's weird seeing dead people, especially when you knew them when they was alive.

I hope this stuff gets easier for you cos it's part of the job really

Ooh, not good. Oh well, at least you can say "I see dead people..." and you won't be lying.

I wouldn't want to go through that, all very disturbing.

Sounds like being a policeman is a riot. Literally, sometimes, I guess.
