I don't think Sony will dominate the next-generation console market like they have done with the original playstation. The playstation never really had any competition, the Saturn was a vastly inferior machine and the N64 came too late and 3rd parties rejected it because of the cartridge format. It is a different story this time, most people will acknowledge that Nintendo and Sega consistantly make the best software and they WON'T make it for anybody else. Sony has dominated because of titles like Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy, at the moment Square only make games for Sony but they once made games on the SNES, developers like Square and Polyphony like to make games for the best system and if Nintendo are to be believed, the dolphin is more powerful than the PS2. If the best 3rd party software makers decide to make their games for more than one system, Sony might struggle to have enough quality "exclusives". At the moment the PS2 looks unstoppable with Metal Gear 2, GT2000 etc..... but I'm sure they could be converted to the Dolphin or X-Box. As a gamer, if I had to make a choice between a PS2 with MGS2, GT2000 etc..... or a Dolphin with MGS2, GT2000 AND Zelda, Mario, Pokemon and games developed by RARE then there is no contest.

I have no doubt that the PS2 will sell millions of units, but the FUTURE OF GAMING does not lie with the PS2 or Sony. Not everybody who buys a PS2 will be a gamer, some will only buy 2 or 3 games a year but use it a lot for DVD movies, Internet etc....... But everybody who buys a Dolphin will be a gamer. There will be no barren release schedules as Nintendo and Rare's games will be accompanied by heavy support from third parties as they are no longer scared by the cost of Cartridges.

Nintendo has learned from it's mistakes and is still well respected within the industry and will once again dominate the GAMING world.

Hang on... if you posted this on the 15th, how did it win the game for the 14th? Very odd.
Ah well, even though I'm a bad loser, at least untill I win, I won't kick up any kind of a fuss. Maybe that guy Ali can shed some light...

In reply to your message. You may think that Sony will not have the 'Gamers' which is a fair point but you admitted yourself that more people would buy it for Internet etc. This means that developers whoi make games for the PS2 will have a larger pool of potential buyers to target. This means that a company will be able to make more money by continuing to make games for Sony. This coupled with the fact that most companies will not have to switch loyalties, should mean that Sony will continue to maintain its stranglehold on the Console industry. I agree that the Dolphin might be better for game originality etc. But consider what Sony have done, they have made gaming widespread, they have made the Playstation a fashion icon. Most people will buy the Playstation 2 because they are familiar with the concept of Playstation. Nintendo have a lot of catching up to do, because Sony's Position will mean Square, Polyphony etc will not change until the Dolphin has proven itself. Don't forget that the N64 had a version of Gran Turismo... I think the less said about that the better. But I think developers will Make games for PS2, why because more people will own a PS2 which means possibly larger revenues for the Developers, which is what it is all about
