Cesena coach Fabrizio Castori was banned for 3 years after he assaulted Lumezzane midfielder Pietro Strada, during the second leg of the Serie C1 playoff final held yesterday.
The incident occurred late in the first half of extra time, in the moments following Lumezzane’s equalizer.
Reports indicate Castori lost his cool and ran onto the pitch where he first head-butted, and then punched Strada, who was forced to leave the match as a result.
Cesena went on to win the game 2-1, and are therefore set to partake in next seasons’s Serie B, even though Lumezzane might ask for the result to be overturned as a result of Castori’s actions.
