But after only a few weeks of practice, I'm finding my playing speeding up loads. I thought I could play quite fast before, but Gilbert is out of this world. If I can play Scarified in a years time, I'll be a happy happy man, and I'll probably treat myself to a new amp or something. Maybe an Ibanez guitar too. I don't really like the look, but it's easier to play that sort of stuff than on my Les Paul, and definitely on my Telecaster.
Whatever. I downloaded a short video clip of Gilbert hammering away at Technical Difficulties, and I shall upload it once I get pocketmonkey working again. You should see it even if you've got no interest in guitar - amazing fretwork.
Also, does anyone know where I can find any Gilbert/Racer X tab books? I've looked everywhere I can think of, and all they have is compilations with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and Co. I only want to focus on a few Racer X songs, and can't find anything that's just them. Not sure if I want to use the PowerTab stuff - looks like some long haired, lanky layabout sat and transcribed that from ear, and I'd rather have the professional version.
The Racer X site is cool too, because it hosts free videos and tab to download.

EDIT: Actually, just browse the whole site, it's genius.

Problem is that the exercises so far have been painfully easy. Not really teaching you how to shred, just some stuff to put into solos, so more licks than exercises.

What, like one you'll pay for? Crazybad!
As long as you don't forget it's cockrock and start coming out dressed like The Darkness, that's fine.
One day, I'd love to shred....*dreams*
As for tab, I think you're pretty much out of luck. It's almost impossible to get anything for him. Amazon and Musicroom are the most likely places, but they don't have any. Try eBay at frequent intervals.
