FYI fastest speed ever in combat was Mach 3.2 by a MiG 25 over Afghanistan in 1989.

My mistake SR-71 Blackbird can only do mach 3.5

Rubbish.

Fastest aircraft was the North American X-15 rocket plane from the late 1950's. Was known to exceed Mach 6. Also holds the record for highest altitude.

Ive never been on one, and probably never would of. So im not that bothered.

But i think its silly to take them off duty though.

Nah London to NY is only about 5 hours. Most airliners nowadays cruise at around 550-600 MPH.

I was always a fan of Concorde.

It's faster than the SEPECAT Jaguar and Eurofighter Typhoon. But the Panavia Tornado has the edge speed wise. Not by much though.
