I'm feeling rather reminiscent at the moment so thought this would be the ideal topic to write something about.

What what would I have to stick into a time capsule for people to find, maybe millions of years from now....

I remember one year we did actually do this and stuck loads of things in a carboard box and burried it in my next door neighbours garden! There was an Argos catalogue, a £10 note, some food, plastic toys.... Needless to say, when they built their extention and dug up the 'box' it was beginning to rot, everything was soaked and it was hard to tell what was actually supposed to have been in there!

This time, i'm hoping these things will acually be placed into something which will preserve the things for a long time.

So here we go...

***********************
Music
***********************

CDs or even cassettes (thats as far back as I go!). It would have to be of my favourite artists (Eva Cassidy) and I wonder how it would compare to future music! Who knows what Pop Idol might have produced and how commercialised music will have become! Let's show them how it used to be done!

***********************
Money
***********************

The reason for this being: We might not have the £ Sterling for much longer so it would be nice to keep a memory of what Brittish history used to be before we moved on to the Euro... and who knows what else! Of course this would have to be somewhere safe because it could rip easily and will most likely turn to mush if it gets wet... maybe stick some coins in there too! I've been told that £10 would have been a lot of money in the olden days so i'm guessing it wont be worth the paper it is printed on soon!

***********************
A Car and a bus
***********************

My time capsule is going to be HUGE! When we get space ships on the planet and move to the moon, it would be nice to have a great piece of history such as a classic Brittish car. I'm not a car person, so I'd stick anything that looks good in there!!

On the bus side... I'd stick a First Bus (what we have running in Peebles). These have to be the worst buses I have ever been on. I even thought about starting my own bus company, just so they would lower their prices and get better buses. They are used or school runs and how would you like to be on a bus with a whole in the floor on a wet day!! I seriously hope they managed to improve this within the next few years!!

***********************
A newspaper
***********************

The Sun? News of the World? Peeblesshire News? Actually, I would stick in the PN. You get some great news in there... we always go stright to the court page and see who's been up - lets just say, I've never been in there but my brothers have and a LOT of people in my year - mostly driving offences!!

I would have to stick in a Broadsheet though just to let them have some proper news. One with something about 9/11 would be a reminder of the sorts of things that went on in the world back in our day. They might have alien invasions by then....

A letter
***********************

This would probably be full of SMS txting tlk. :) We mite al spek like tht 1 day!

It could be for my future generation... or another 'me' depending on what I come back as when I die! I could have great great great grandchildren then... still haven't got any children yet so that will have to come first!

***********************
Mobile phones
***********************

I would stick my very first phone in there... still have it somewhere! It really is a brick now but not as big as the very first ones that came out. It was a Motorola Montreal. It was black, heavy, had a huge (well about 5 cm) aerial. It probably cost about £80 back then on One2One PAYG!! Still in good working condition actually! Looking at the size and capabilities of what we have now, who knows what there could be in the future... even in the next 10 years!

***********************
A map/globe
***********************

Going by my History/Geography lessons when I was in 1st/2nd year, the world looked very different to how it does today, countries were joined/closer together so who knows where the Uk might be floating in a few hundred years time! We could be next to Australia!!

***********************
Myself
***********************

What a surprise it would be for people to find a 'me' in there! I would be able to tell them all about the past (or what I know anyway!). Actually, I might scare them!

***********************
Naked Photos of people
***********************

How do you know that we are going to look the same as we do now? We could have changed dramatically in the next million years... we evolved from Monkeys so who knows what we might turn into!

***********************
Sex toys
***********************

This has to be a great one to stick in! Whether it be a simple vibrator or a 'Rampant Rabbit'. Its hard to imagine what they will have in hundreds of years from now so we might as well show them what we had to put up with.

Anyway thats what i can think of, feel free to add some more things.
