It's a mod for Half-Life, and is a multi-player thing.
Also unlike anything I've played online before.
Unrealy DOES rock, dont get me wrong. But it's a cartoon game, you can survive many shots from rocket launchers and grab some health to get back at whoever fragged you.
Counterstrike, however, is about as real as I have played.
Two teams, one terrorist, one counter-terrorist.
That easy, different scenarios but that's the idea.
So what makes this a new experience for this addled Online Monster? Dying really, really easily.
One shot kills are the norm with this one. Makes you a LOT more careful when you know you can be taken down with one simple shot.
And you stay dead, no respawning and getting back in.
No siree, you get shot, you wait for the next game.
Frustrating, yes. Addictive? Oh yes.
Unreal is cool, but you can rack up scores above 100 and have just as many deaths, it doesn't matter.
Counterstrike, you out? Tough, you dead.
I played this for almost 3hrs straight on Friday night,I laster on average about 40 secs per game. But that's because I suck and charged about like Roadrunner with heavy ordenance.
No, you gots to hide. You gots to walk and listen for footsteps.
But more than that, you gots to be good.
I can see people that like to run about and fire willy-nilly getting really cheesed with this very quickly.
Get good or get dead - The Counterstrike Ethos.
And it's free.
Download from website (84mb) but if you have Half-life, you can play this for free.
You can't ask for more.
Hope so, but give CS a try, just to see.
It's hard, frustrating, realistic (I would imagine having never been a terrorist or SWAT member) and fun.
