Hey, i use WinMX for perfectly legal reasons ofcourse and recently I downloaded a trailer and I had to get a Quicktime update so I did. However after I watched the clip I went into WinMX to listen to songs I aqquired by legal means I assure you and it read them all as Quicktime files not WinAmp. Now if I want to play them I have to play them in Quicktime which is pants in comparison to WinAmp. Do any of you know how to change them back to WinAmp files with the WinAmp logo at the side not Quicktime? Thanks in advance :D

You can do it from inside Winamp (this is for Winamp 5); Options --> Preferances --> Filetypes. Chances are you'll never come across most of the file types listed, but make sure mp3's selected and anything else you want to play in Winamp. You'll probably have to go through a similar process with quicktime to disable it from opening mp3's. Or you could just uninstall it because it's annoying.

You have to change any file types with extensions you want WinAmp to recognise and play as default. Please don't make this complicated, it's really not and it's far too hot.

I went to My Computer > Control Panel >> Folder Options >>> File Types and then scrolled down the list until I got to WinAmp. However tons of File Types are called WinAmp they just have different extensions. For example:

Details for 'OGG' Extension:
File types with extension 'OGG' are of type 'WinAmp mediafile'...blah blah blah and then it says if I want to make changes that'll effect all WinAmp media files to click on Advanced. However I don't know if that's the right one to go into Advanced for. It's all very confusing:S

It's all about file types and associations. Go to My Computer Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Then find the chosen filetype and choose what application to run it.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
