Every time I type a web address into the address bar on my browser (IE5) I get the message "Can't access this folder path is too long". I then click okay and I am taken to the address that I entered. This is a work computer connected through a LAN at a university.
I'm more or less computer illeterate. Is there any way that I can get rid of the message?

Appears to be an issue with the legacy version of Internet Explorer, although I only ever got these from 5.0 Beta 2, please visit http://windowsupdate.com and try the latest version of internet explorer and all the fixes and see if this stops these messages.
If you are able to, I advise you to get firebird as it's a superior browser:
