i recently bought some ps2 games whilst on hols in Malaysia. They were very cheap and when i got home i tried them on my ps2 but it came up with "insert format cd" or words to that effect. firstly i have no idea what region they are and secondly and more importantly, how/where can i get this format cd from, and if i am unable to what would i need to do to enable me to play these games and how would i do it? If you could post your message on the message page or email me : [email protected] i would be so grateful, thanks. please help me - An inexperienced ps2 fan.

Nah that's just display settings which would mean his PS2 wouldnt work regularly, plus the games display screen would at least load up asking to choose the mode. It's the region coding chips in the PS2 that cause the format request.

They're fake. You're just going to have to accept you were conned and throw the discs away. Don't listen to the retard who replied first. If you sell them on, you can be done for piracy yourself.

My brother bought about 5 games from Thailand. None worked, except for Flight Sim 2003 Proffessional edition (game?!!). Which retails for about £60/70! All the others were worth about £20!

It's a risk you take buying games from Countries known for their high piracy rate. You say they were cheap though - hopefully you didn't spend too much on them and haven't made such a big loss.

the only thing you could get away with is probably buying GBA games as they aren't location specific. Also you can get the legal english copies there if you know the right people. I got the full legal game of metriod zero mission (complete with manual and nintendo crap that asks you to become a memeber of a shabby club) for £4.20. Stolen? I wouldn't know.

I brought some games in the philippines, but when I came home it didn't work. After I never buy games from a foreign country. They maybe cheap but their all pirate copy games, you don't get any manual paper aswell.
