You do know its a Mobile chip designed for laptops, so you'll have to but a new laptop to get one anyway.

Incorrect. I have purchased an asus barebones notebook which is currently winging its way to myself from the united states. At the moment however iam unsure whether to go with the banias or dothan processor.

But damn, that 2mb cache is tempting.

You'll find that mobile chips make great desktop processors. Low voltage, high stability, unlocked multipliers. Pump up the cycles!

Apparently Intel is close discontinuing the P4 range, and is rumoured to be developing a brand new dual dothan core for desktops.Not a bad idea considering they have a super efficient power rating of only 21W.

I think they'll hold off a bit and see if they can cool the Prescott down a bit. Because it is a good performer if you can cool the damn thing. A Prescott clocked to 5.5 GHz under liquid nitrogen managed a 23 second super PI.
