I open up the internet from eitherb the shortcut on the desktop or from the programs list, but everytime I do it, it opens up the internt and that works like normal, but it also opens up command promt.

Any ideas why?

Is 0.9RC a significant improvement over 0.8?

get the 0.9 RC from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/ mozilla.org/firefox/releases/0.9rc

Its the latest version of firefox, buts its pre-release, so mite be buggy. Im using it atm and its ace.

you gotta remove the space between pub/ and mozilla.org.

I couldn't install it again because of the windows verification thingy, but IE still works and no command prompt.

You can even just run the setup again and select repair and it does it all for you.

If its really annoying you, use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components

Select the Installed Components key and delete it.

Reinstall IE.

Check the shortcuts, see wherther there is anything after "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" like a -H or similar. If not I haven't got a clue other than try reinstalling.
