Ok, so I rip all my CD's in iTunes now, because it rocks. Error correction is on, as I don't mind the reduced transfer rate.

But in the track I've just listened to, I'm sure the MSN message sound is played in the background - you know the one, when someone posts a message and it goes 'do[S]do[S]do'[/S][/S]

iTunes doesn't pick up sounds that are going on on the PC's frontline does it?

It might just be my spastic hearing...

When ripping direct from CD it won't.
