Despite not being the biggest of fan of rap, I've always considered "That's Just the Way it is" by Tupac one of my favourite songs of pretty much all time. The flowing piano throughout is superb, and lyrically it's extremely good - it was considered a revelation as it spoke (to a beat I suppose) of East Coast v West Coast rap gang rivalry.

Anyway, up until a few weeks ago I believed that this was original.
I was listening to Radio 2 in the car on a journey to Glasgow (yes, Radio 2 - none of your crappy Radio 1 pish or anything) when I heard the flowing piano intro.
Anyway, the whole song was just a total stroke of genius. I had no idea that the song, particularly the piano piece throughout, could be improved upon what I had already heard.

Well, I was wrong.

Bruce Hornsby - That's Just the Way it is.
It's superb. I demand you get it.

Like I've already said, the beautifully flowing upbeat piano is just fantastic.
Hurrah.

I'd recommend getting a few more of his songs. I 'acquired' an album of his. Really good stuff.

I've always been a firm believer that pretty much all songs ripped off nowadays are utterly diabolical, which is completely true.

But Tupac's version was really good lyrically, so I had pretty much no reason to believe it was a cover.

Anyway, the original is far superior, so all is good.
