Anyway, up until a few weeks ago I believed that this was original.
I was listening to Radio 2 in the car on a journey to Glasgow (yes, Radio 2 - none of your crappy Radio 1 pish or anything) when I heard the flowing piano intro.
Anyway, the whole song was just a total stroke of genius. I had no idea that the song, particularly the piano piece throughout, could be improved upon what I had already heard.
Well, I was wrong.
Bruce Hornsby - That's Just the Way it is.
It's superb. I demand you get it.
Like I've already said, the beautifully flowing upbeat piano is just fantastic.
Hurrah.
But Tupac's version was really good lyrically, so I had pretty much no reason to believe it was a cover.
Anyway, the original is far superior, so all is good.
I'm wrong it came out in 86.
