to rip an audio track from a DVD?

Yes, you can. DVD Decrypter and Flask mpeg will do the job nicely - read this page and follow the audio related bits (i.e. rip the .vob files, then skip to Extracting the Audio

why don't you find out what song or what song it comes from if it's just a beat.
also alot of movies have soundtrack cds, so it may be on kazaa or whatever.

I think you can rip the audio file, but can't convert it. I may be wrong though. But if I'm right, it's a complicated process that involves multiple programs.
Gutted. Well at least i can stop trying now.
