"Never touch the laser"

I think what they meant by that is that you aren't supposed to touch the laser.

You might as well buy a new PS2. It will most likely cost as much to have it repaired, and you won't have to explain to some bitter, cynical, sarcastic geek technician the rather strange way in which you managed to break it.

no it's not just the reset button its a silver cable that connects the reset button and the eject button to the ps2 itself.

Can't you just live without the reset button? You can turn it on by pressing the tray eject button.

Yes i know i'm a cheap skate doing things myself but i just don't know who to trust and most places charge a fortune for something that you can do yourself!!
Thankyou for your feedback.

If its the silver ribbon then you are pretty much screwed.

You'll need someone who knows what they are doing to replace it for you, PC repair place might be able to help you out, if not then somewhere that repairs playstation.

Either that or you buy a new one.

Very pleased with the help given by your staff. They explained technical details in an easy way and were patient when providing information to a non expert like me.
