New game genres? Lets face it, most games fit into one of half-a-dozen categories. There have been very few original ideas.
New features? DVD and MP3 etc are just new toys to encourage the common gamer to spend more of his cash on one console over another.
Now the Internet, thats an intersting idea. PC gamers have already proved that online gaming is possible, and great fun killing someone on Quake who live on the other side of the world. Sega have set out to prove that it is possible on consoles as well with the release of Chu Chu Rocket. If modem speeds can be increased to say, 56K then online gaming from a console can and will prove to be very popular.
Of course there will be other new features, such as the links between the GB Advance and Project Dolphin etc, but the Internet is set to be an important facet of gaming over the next few years.
