My Tomb Raider chronicles guide:

LEVEL 1: THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE

PART 1: Streets Of Rome:

At the start there is a backstage door, forget this (unless you want to do some training) and go to the fountain yard on the right. Shoot the dog that you first come up against and then flip the lever to the right to turn the fountain off, then return to the start.

Now go straight until you reach the white brick wall and hit the switch under some moss to your left (the bats will fly away. Vault the block, grab the medi-kit and go to the obviously smashable windows. Notethe third window and descend the stairs to shhot the dog that you will see and open the grill by the first switch.

Open the door ahead, en route to the third window. Hop over and go left for the key. Now head up and jump over on to the red/white striped roof with flares to shoot the dog below and use the key to open the gate.

After that you will see Larson, shoot at Larson (by the tight rope) to scare him off, get the medi-kit (to the right) and cross the courtyard. The first garden key is on your left. Cotinue up the slope to shhot again. Cross the rope, drop down and pull the lever to open the gate back to the fountain.

Then you want to head left past the room with the ammo and the locked gate. Ascend the steps for the revolver thenup the slope to open the door to the barrel storeroom. Combine the laser sight with the revolver to shoot the lock off for the second garden key.Head back and left to open the Garden Gate.

In the Garden go aroud the back of the astrology gateway and exit up the slope to trigger the bell. Find another laser sight and more ammo on the steps with the columns and locked doors. Use first person targeting to shoot the bell to open the left door. (Climb on the wall over the garden to access the tower and grab the ammo and the medi-kit). Through the door, jump the gap and flick the switch to open the middle church door.

In the church go left for the lever to make the bird statue white, examine this to swing the ram and open the door through the raven passage. Shimmy under the ram for the next lever. Examine the second dove to open the bottom church gate. Get the key and get caught.

PART 2:

TRAJAN’S MARKETS

When you start go into the room to your left and shoot the box. Pick up the crowbar, which should be where the box was, and then head into the room to your right to get the laser sight. Crowbar the corrugated iron door on your right and shoot the box for a medi-kit before climbing the scaffolding to reach the chain-walk and the medi-kit on the window bay.

Wobble across the raised walkways and descend to see the cog system and pick up the flares and ammo below. Drop into the cog yard, climb the ladder just past the disc portal on the left, and head left to pull the rope. You must pull the rope twice to position the cogs before going right to activate the mechanism to open the disc portal.

This may vary a little but once it kicks in, you’ll find the trapdoor at the other end of the cog yard is now open and you can grab a secret and some ammo. Enter the disc alcove and jemmy a golden coin from the door (watching out for the rats). Now collect the bits in the centurion statue room and use the coin. Now head to the newly opened door near the beginning.

Move through the water and climb out to disable the monster by shooting it’s eyes with the laser sight (use L2 to zoom in) Once you have disabled the monster you will get a mars symbol and some ammo. In the engine room, jump onto the scaffold and pick up a secret before heading back to the eye-man room to open the trap door. Swim through the waterways to jemmy the valve handle.

Return to the engine room and shut off the fan to the waterway base. Go back to the crossroads and swim to the bottom and another passage. Through here, head left for air and follow the large pipeway. Swim past the double fans for air and hit he lever before returning to swim past them. Then through the passage, swim to the top for a shotgun, and then its time for the Centurion statue fight. To kill him, exit the confined corridor and avoid his attacks while blasting him with your shotgun.

Climb out of the window (there’s a handy medi-kit on the ledge to your left), swim for the next (the Venus) and then come out for another encounter with Larson. Blast him and the Hydra-heads, using side-jumps to evade his fire. Pick up all the stuff lying around the yard and place the keys in the respective holes. Dead ahead you’ll catch sight of the Philosopher’s stone but, unfortunately, it’s a tease. Now you will fall down to the next level.

THE COLOSSEUM

From the start, head forward and push the ring on a stone to your right (and pick up a secret). As blocks full from underneath you, leap forward to the room with a lion below. Turn around to see where you would have fallen and drop off the edge. Grab and shimmy to haul yourself into the crawl passage and drop into the small room. Push the button and then return the same way to find an open door. Slide down, and quickly kill the lion, push the button and kill another lion before climbing the ladder.

Grab the gemstone piece, run into the next room and shoot the gladiator. Get the medi-kit to your left and head up the slope to kill another gladiator. Push the button, pick up the goodies and head up the slope, noting the hall to your left. Kill the lion and the gladiator and get to the dead-end for an Uzi and a medi-kit. Go back down to the hall you spotted earlier and expose the second gemstone by pulling the chain three times and then getting back up by using the opposite platform in the allocated time. Facing centre, pull and side-step left then forward to drop down. Run and jump twice to get the corner-stone.

Combine the gemstone pieces and exit the room opposite the door for the floor trap and an encounter with Pierre. Now back to he puzzle chamber (picking up a secret). Now head up to the gemstone room (save your game here) and use the gemstone to see the floor falling away. Escape by rolling to face the opposite way and take a running jump over to the only safe floor square. Run jump back towards the gem and drop back to shimmy left to the exit. Climb into the colosseum and shoot the gladiator and the lion with your Uzi to get the key. Use this to open the big doors and decimate the centurion statue.

Pick up the key straight ahead of you and open the right-hand door. Slide down to the lava chamber and jemmy off the Philosopher’s stone. Use the nearby platform to reach a final secret area in this section.

Now you will have completed the First level
I will post PART 3: LEVEL 2: THE SPEAR OF DESTINY soon
