Judge Dredd (worst affected, all texture settings)
Evil Genius (High Textures)
Half-Life 2 (High Textures)
Far Cry (High Textures)
Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell (High Character Textures, does not apply to the original game)
Doom 3 (High Detail)
Star Wars: Republic Commando (Medium Textures)
My PC is equipped with an ATI RADEON 9200 256MB, running with the newest version of Catalyst. I have come across numerous accounts on numerous different forums of people having the same problem, and yet, following the threads down, none of them have a clue of how to fix it! Does anyone know what is causing this problem and if it is possible to fix it? Even if it involves changes to the hardware (preferably under £100) ???
However, fragmented files would explain why it has only been happening recently, and on recently installed games, but it doesn't explain why it is only happening on high-detail textures.
I honestly wish I could send a picture up to you, but I don't know how. I can't do it on the forums and I don't know any 'free picture gallery' websites. Sorry.
> stuff about his funked textures
Could you take a screenshot of the way the textures look, and take a screenshot of your advanced graphics options of your card. or list what settngs are for each item.
have it do the defrag scan just to check the fragmentation as even from install you get fragments.
I have had cases on 3 different computers now where I have increased the texture detail, and the only change has been a drop in frame-rate. This is the ONLY COMPUTER on which I have experienced this checkerboard effect!
halflife 2 sometimes has a bad load and will dislay pink shinny checkers on teh walls but often it's just a restart needed.
I'd check at all your games are updated completely and defrag your computer incase a file has been misloaded due to fragmentation.
