I installed the demo of Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and you play for a limited time until, when you try and run it, it brings up IE with a page saying, "Blah blah, trial expired, buy to continue playing".

Now, this is rubbish, as I was having a grand old time drowning people in the lake I had, as people in swan boats just swan boated by.

So, I uninstalled, and reinstalled in a bid to be able to play again, and restart the trial - always with the nagging feeling the following would happen.
And the following did happen.
This is the following.

It just kept giving me that page.

So I opened the registry editor, and looked under software for "Rollercaoster Tycoon 2", or "Infogrames" (the maker people).
But found nothing.

Sssooooo, is there actually a way to make it think it's the first time I've installed it?
I've a funny feeling that it does store something in the registry, but it's something totally obscure, like a numbered folder such as "0103004095993" or something.

So help me, please. Is there a way?

Ha ha, you are basically trying to crack the demo.

Off the record, I like your line of enquiry.

Aha, I've had a half hearted idea.

I'm going to install RCT2 along with jv16 Power Tools (which I now have on this comp - tis very good).

Hopefully this'll work...

Gah, no changes were made.
Ah well. I accept defeat.

As long as you have all your recent data backup from after the restore point give it a go.

It's on a disc that I found lying about, and it's about 71mb anyway...
Cheer's a lot for the offer, though.

You could have used jv16 PowerTool's Registry Moniter while installing it to see what keys it placed so you could remove them before reinstalling, but its a bit late now really, what with you having installed it for the first time.

Give me the URL of the demo and I'll install it and see what is put on the reg and feed back.

It's... the demo...
And besides, my half hour was spent messing around. I didn't get to try out the game properly.
Surely Mr. Sawyer would wish me to make use of a half hour properly?

You could Google for it.

But you would have to Re-Format the drive or buy the game to carry on playing.

Plus what you are doing is illegal.
