E4, uktv Gold, uktv Style, uktv Food, Discover Home & Leisure, Discovery Channel, Bloomberg, TCM, Cartoon Netwrok, Boomerang, (Television X for additional subscription)

Sky
ntl
Telewest

A fair few people have picked up Freeview, you do get a few good channels, Ftn for one but then I don't think auction and shopping channels would be of interest. TUTV seems to be more popular than I expected, although the channels on offer arent all that great, E4 if you like Friends and Big Brother and uktv Gold is quite good. The option to have Television X is an added bonus ;)

At the moment we have 6 rooms with tvs, one has Sky (since 1997) another has Freeview, the rest have poor reception with analog arials. I know a few people who have cable, I'm aware that Sky has far more channels although you can debate whether they're worth having anyway, although Telewest have a lot less channels compared to ntl I believe. As for the other tvs we have I'm sure one or two of them might get Sky although that's an additional £10 each a month. Or we might just go for Freeview, although I think we'd have to buy some new arials which wont make the house look any nicer.

What channels do you usually watch?
I haven't been watching much of the terrestrial channels especially BBC2 and 4. Other channels I use to watch E4, Sky 1, Sci Fi an Bravo I don't really catch at all infact I think it's been a few months since I watched Sky1 and I use to watch it religiously. I've been watching some of the "new" channels, like Ftn, FX, the Horror Channel and Toonami. I suppose it's because when I do get to sit down infront of the tv it's already past 11 and I tend to watch the programs that I like around that time.

If I watch terrestrial it's been "five" lately and sometimes channel 4. Other channels I watch uktv Gold, Biography channel, Challenge tv, Sci Fi, Ftn, FX, the Horror Channel, Sky Movies, Toonami and E4. So a tiny fraction of what Sky has to offer.

Sky will be upgrading itself throughout June and Feburary '05 to accomidate 600 channels
At the moment it is not possible to have more than 300 channels so Sky want to double it to around 600. This will probably mean a redesign of the EPG. There are a lot more channels waiting to be launched and the upgrades might delays a lot of them. The terrestrial channels would have to work hard to keep their ratings if everyone switched to Sky and had a choice of 600 channels. Of course there'll probably only be anything good on 15 of them at the time. 50 pornography channels, does anyone really need that much porn.

For those of you who watch E4 here's the new summer line up. Pretty similar to last year huh?

Have got a Telewest box downstairs. Have pretty much all the channels except for the porn.

Only channels I really watch are MTV, Sky Movies and occasionally Bravo and Sky 1, oh and Sci-Fi if there's a decent film on.

Yeah, E4 have got crap lately.

We have Sky Plus downstairs, and the old Sky Digital box in my room. I only really watch the Movie and Music channels, Bravo, Trouble and Sky One/Mix.

There was supposed to be a channel where you could listen to any track you wanted at any time for about £5/Month. Don't know what happened to that though...

Terrestrial channels. News, whatevers on if i'm really hungover. I watch movies I want to watch, or dvd's I want to watch (Spaced, Family Guy, etc etc) I don't watch TV.

The following basically describes exectly WHY I don't watch TV as a rule.
