I want to be able to make it so that I can have Wi-Fi in my house. Now I have a wired broadband connection. What do I have to buy to make it so I can have Wi-Fi? Do I just need a wireless network card?

Also if I do get Wi-Fi in my house, will I have to pay monthly or something?

PS: Sorry I said PC's instead of PCs.

Through software. To turn on WEP for the router you go through its set up software, it'll probably be along the lines of checking a box then saving the settings. To set up the PCs to connect you would right click on the connection in the My Network Connections bit and select properties and type in the same key as was on the router.

It's pretty easy. That's a rough guide as to how it would be set up, but different equipment will be a touch different.

Not difficult to do at all though.

Not if you run it off a main server and have user logins, but this is a bit complicated.
Also you could do telnet, which is pretty easy. May take some reading up on.

But i suggest just a wireless router connected to the modem, i doubt anyone around you will have a wireless adapter and pick it up.

wireless is all well and good but you may notice a decline in your bandwidth speeds, nothing too bad though.. and be aware that anyone else closeby can theoretically piggyback your connection and use your bandwidth as well.

unlikely though, unless you live near an entire universitys worth of computing students ;)

You need:

Wireless router- connected to Phoneline

Wireless PCI or PCMIA(if laptop) card in every PC you want to use the wireless connection.
