He's finally got away from Liverpool - well, Gerard Houllier, I should say! - in order to get-on with his playing career, once again.
We all know the lad's got real talent there - we saw it all at Leicester and he still does it for England today. At Liverpool, however, he's never really been given the right chances.
Steve Bruce is a man who knows what he needs - and, he'll give it to him. Birmingham's a good club. Not the biggest, but one the up, one step at a time. Linking up again with Robbie Savage and Muzzy Izzet should also benefit him.
All the best, Emile! :D
Another kick in the teeth for Liverpool. :P
However as a Liverpool fan...I'm so sad to see him go. 60 goals in 277 games doesn't tell the story...up front he and Owen were one of the best partnerships, if not THE best in the Premiership. Think about it.
Henry and...?
Van Nistelrooy and...?
No team in the Premiership has two regular top scores. Owen has always scored most of our goals, and a lot of these were certainly thanks to Heskey's strength and ability to hold the ball up as well as his work rate.
Farewell Emile...thanks for everything. :(
Tis a good buy for the blues.
Anything he does now won't make a difference. He's just the opposite to Rooney. Rooney had 1 very good season and now he's great, even though he's played crap for Everton this season.
I think it's a bad move for Liverpool players wise, but good money wise, providing it is spent well.
I think Birmingham might be becoming a top 6 side now. They are showing potential with the players they have bought/are buying in the past 2 seasons. Just hope they don't get Izzett on a free now, otherwise we'll have to snatch Savage away from them.
However, Stevie Bruce has the nack of getting the best out of average players and as there will be less pressure on Heskey now, he might just do well there.
It's funny that Sven rates Heskey highly yet Liverpool couldn't wait till the end of the season to get rid of him, the same goes for Alan Smith who is probabaly on everyone's wanted list yet he is still left behind by England.
